A Kisii MCA has questioned the development record of the Kisii county government in South Mugirango Constituency.
Albert Oino, who represents Chitago-Borabu on Wednesday during a fundraising ceremony in his backyard alleged that the region was receiving a raw share from the county government pointing out at the quality of infrastructure and handling of sugar farmers from the region.
Oino said area residents were observing Governor James Ongwae’s record keenly and warmed possible fallout to support another candidate of their choice in 2017 polls.
“I am not ashamed to say that our people have not received a fair share from the county government. We have seen other regions served with quality road networks and other mega-projects, but nothing has yet been done here. The governor should wake up and fix the mess before it’s too late,” Oino said.
According to him, sugarcane farmers were receiving a raw deal with the neighboring Trans Mara Sugar Company overcharging them due to impassable roads in the region.
“For instance, sugarcane farmers are overpaying transport costs to Trans Mara Company due to poor road networks. That makes me wonder the role of the county government yet we are paying taxes,” he said.
Oino also lamented of understaffed health facilities in the region and called for an immediate remedy to the condition.
“We cannot take this negligence anymore. We do not have enough workers in our health centres and that makes it difficult for residents to seek medication in nearby places,” he said.
