A nominated member of the Machakos County Assembly has condemned what she calls an attack on women leaders by male politicians opposed to their 'sterling' performance.
Addressing the press in Machakos town on Wednesday, Ann Mukoma, said it was unfortunate and hurting that women were being victimised and insulted whenever they performed well in their dockets.
"I speak on behalf of all women leaders in this great nation, it is unfortunate that if women perform well in their positions they are victimised," said Mukoma.
She was referring to the controversial statements made by the Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama said against Devolution CS Anne Waiguru, at a political rally in Uhuru Park grounds in Nairobi last Wednesday.
Mukoma argued that there was nobody in the executive within the national government who had performed better than Waiguru.
"Who has performed well like Waiguru?" she asked.
She said women from the entire region were behind the devolution CS and urged her to visit Machakos County with the National Youth Service (NYS) programme to initiate water projects to solve the problem of acute water shortage in the region.
