Crime has significantly reduced in Ayany Estate in Kibera since a community police post was launched in the area.
The police post which was constructed by the National Youth Service has been of a great positive impact to the residents.
According to the residents, the police in the area are working hard to curb the cases of theft, robbery, assault, malicious damage and disturbance among others.
"The government through the ministry of devolution and NYS did a commendable job to bring this police post here. We had suffered a lot in the hands of stubborn youth who always interfered with our peaceful businesses," said Abubakar Musa.
"The community’s daily activities are running smoothly. We are now assured of improved security. There is no more harassment by people who disturbed our peace," said Lydia Juma.
Purity Mutua a shop owner at the area also said the presence of police in the area has helped her carry out duties without fear.
"Since the police post became operational, I feel more secure and confident when carrying out my business," she said.
She says she has witnessed an improvement in the manner of operations by fellow traders in the area.
"We are now operating our shops up to 9.00pm unlike in the past where we used to close at 7.00pm," she added.
