Lodging owners have been asked to place condoms in hotel rooms so as to curb the high spread of HIV /Aids in Naivasha.
County Public Health Officer Samuel King’ori said that there is an urgent need to supply condoms to bars and lodgings saying that many customers are too shy to ask for them.
Speaking to the press in Naivasha on Friday, King’ori said that bar owners should ensure that there is no shortage of the supply of condoms in any bar as they were a key tool in fighting sexually transmitted diseases.
He added that the spread of HIV/AIDS in the county was being contributed by drunkards who are too intoxicated to look for contraceptives. He noted that supplying them to rooms will ensure that they have easy access to them.
Kingori also called for their proper disposal
Kingori cited that the poor display of condoms also contributed to the spread of HIV.
"In some cases the users just come and point at the contraceptives whereas some bar owners hide them under the counters," he pointed out.
