"We are the only heroes left out during the Mashujaa Day celebrations. We are the architects of the heroes in Kenya yet we haven't been paid," he lamented.

Giving an example of a maid who has not been paid or fed yet given the responsibility of nursing a baby, he attributed the teachers' striking menace to the lack of motivation.

"Some of the teachers in this region have not been paid since July; we are kindly asking the government to behave," Onchoke added.

Geofrey Mogire, the KNUT National Executive Council member asked the public to shun ICC prayer meetings and instead pray for teachers to find the motivation to keep working despite the current unfortunate situation.

"I urge teachers to keep their zero salary September pay slips and refer to them in 2017 electioneering period," he added.

This was during the send off ceremony of the heroic Mzee Andrew Okari, father to David Ogega, the region's KIWASCO director on Friday.
