A magistrate in Kisumu has issued a warrant of arrest for a suspect facing wife-beating charges for skipping court session.
Chief magistrate Lucy Gitari while issuing the warrant said the suspect, Paul Otwoma had been informed about the Wednesday court appearance.
The suspect is also accused of missing a hearing session on June 15, despite the fact that the prosecution had made him aware.
Gitari gave him Wednesday as the last warning to appear before the court or risk arrest.
Otwoma is facing charges of beating and injuring his wife, Miriam Keino at their home in Riat, Kisumu following a disagreement.
This resulted in her hospitalisation for two months after sustaining severe back and head injuries.
Otwoma had denied the charges and was released on a Sh25, 000 cash bail.
Gitari said the arrest of Otwoma will serve as an example to suspects who disobey court orders.
