The National Land Commission has issued 200 title deeds to 200 members of the controversy ridden Nyandarua Progressive Agency in Solai area of Nakuru County in bid to solve the land wrangles that have befallen the area residents for the past four decades.
Speaking to the media after issuing the title deeds on Thursday, chairperson Dr Mohammed Swazuri said NLC is also completing the vetting of 200 other members out of the more than 400 members laying claim to the 7,000 acre land which has been in dispute for the last 40 years.
He added that upon completion of the vetting, the commission and the agency`s board of directors will work out on modalities of allocation of land to avert further wrangling.
‘Today we have issued 200 title deeds to 200 members of this area. We are also working on issuing an additional 200 members pieces of land to bring these recurring wrangles to an end. As a commission we are also committed towards ensuring land issues in the country are solved and people leave in piece"Swazuri stated.
The NLC boss also affirmed their commitment in involving both the communities and the government in solving land issues in communities and restore peace among members.
"During this process, we will continue involving communities and the government as a way of finding amicable and protracting solutions to escalating land feuds in the country," Swazuri further stated.
