3 people were arrested today in Maseno, Nyawita for allegedly cutting poles from a farmer’s shamba in Kisumu.

The three are believed to be among a group of people believed to be cutting trees and selling them as poles in Eldoret.

The three was spotted by a witness in the farmers shamba and alerted him, he informed the area chief Nicholas Toro who with the help of the police arrested the three.

Two of the three were the farmer’s neighbor while the 3rd is believed to be from Luanda.

They were then forced to carry the 23 poles they had cut to the farmer’s home under the surveillance of the police before being taken to Maseno police station.

The area chief cautioned the youth against indulging in criminal activities in the area saying they should use the youthful age wisely.

“It’s very discouraging to see our youth indulge in criminal activities. Shun from criminal activities and involve in constructive activities that will benefit you, not behavior like this,” says Toro.

OCS Eric Langat said the three will help police with investigations.
