Maseno University Chancellor Mr. Michael Joseph told graduates to seek further studies despite finishing their first or second degrees. While addressing graduates during the 15th graduation ceremony at Maseno University on Friday morning, the former Safaricom boss told the graduates that one degree was not enough.
“Today’s job industry needs people with more than just a single degree,” he said.
He told the graduates that those who had graduated with their first degrees should in future seek means of going for a second degree or a Master’s degree. He also advised those graduating with a Master’s degree to also make sure that they go for a PHD.
“Education is a heritage and no one can take it away from you,” he said as he addressed the graduates.
He told them that by furthering their studies, they will become more studious, a characteristic that increases their chances of getting employed in the current society that has limited employment opportunities. The graduation ceremony has seen more than 4, 000 students graduate at different academic levels starting from certificates/diplomas, undergraduates, postgraduate, diplomas, masters and PHD.
