Limuru Sub-County OCPD Mohamed Bakuli has asked Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) operators to thoroughly screen their passengers.

Speaking to journalists in Limuru Town on Tuesday, Bakuli said nothing should be left to chance stating that proper screening will guarantee security of passengers.

He said that any passenger boarding or using Public Service Vehicles has to be screened.

“PSV operators must screen their passengers so that security of those on board is guaranteed,” he said.

The OCPD also asked PSV operators to be on the lookout and report suspicious passengers to the police.

He said criminals often use PSVs as targets for their heinous crimes adding that operators must be alert.

On the same note, the OCPD cautioned passengers against boarding vehicles that are full, adding that travellers who board full vehicles risk being arrested and prosecuted.

Bakuli said that the police are determined to curb road accidents that are common during the festive season adding that traffic regulations have to be adhered to.

He said that traffic police have been deployed on major roads within the area to track down rogue motorists.

The OCPD also extended a warning to motorists who drink and drive saying that they will be dealt with accordingly.

On Monday Traffic Commandant Jacinta Muthoni said that police will strictly implement traffic regulations.

Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi, Muthoni said traffic police have been deployed on major roads across the country to monitor and track rogue motorists this festive season.
