Charity organisations in Uasin Gishu County are set to hold a cancer walk during the World Cancer Day on February 4.
Speaking in Eldoret Town on Monday, Ms Sarah Wabuge, the nursing officer at the Eldoret Hospice said: "We will have the walk from our county headquarters and around town to sensitise people about cancer."
She said that people need to be aware of cancer and the importance of regular check ups.
"Early cancer check ups and detection reduces the cost of treatment because it will be easily treated," said Wabuge.
Alice Terer, another nurse from Eldoret Hospice, called upon the residents to turn up in large numbers for screening.
"The free four days cancer screening is sponsored by Eldoret Hospital, Eldoret Hospice, Beyond Zero clinics, Eldoret County Hospital, Kenya Red Cross among other organisations, so people should take advantage of it to screen for cancer," said Mrs Terer.
