Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Hassan Abdi has declared war on corrupt and lazy civil servants.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Abdi said civil servants are employed to serve Kenyans free of charge according to their job descriptions.
"I have received reports from wananchi that there are some government officers who solicit bribes in exchange of service, if you don’t dance to their tune they will not attend to you," he said.
He said the departments where the vice is rampant include the police, chiefs and their assistants and the Registrar of Persons offices.
"I am warning such officers that they either change their deeds or we show them the door. Anyone who is corrupt will be responsible for his own deeds," he said.
He also urged the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to up its game in the fight against corruption by arresting and prosecuting those involved.
"EACC has let us down in the fight against corruption since it takes centuries for them to investigate a single case," he said.
He urged wananchi to stay vigilant and report any officer asking for money in exchange of service.
