Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has defended the county's fire department after a section of residents accused it over its slow response to disasters.
Speaking on Monday when he presided over Equity Bank's Wings to Fly initiative at the county headquarters, Mbugua said it was unfair to blame the anti-fire team yet their efforts were commendable.
"I got a report that the the team received information about the Saturday fire disaster at the Rumish Paints Company at 11:28 am and by 11:30 am, the fire engine was at the scene,"he said, while referring to the Saturday incident in Nakuru town.
The Governor added that the county had two fire engines but one had developed mechanical problems and wasn't operational.
