Residents of Shabab and Rhonda estates in Nakuru have lauded the Nakuru County government for improving the roads in the area.

The residents led by Association of Shabab Traders Chairman Nelson Kahuhia and Rhonda Welfare Group leader Teresia Wamboi, expressed satisfaction with how the government had embarked on improving the roads and called on them to continue with the good work.

"The roads here have not been very conducive for business but we are happy that the county government is doing something about it,” said Kahuhia.

Wamboi on her part said that expansion of the Shabab- Rhonda primary route would greatly ease movement especially in the semi urban settlement.

"Rhonda is quite populated and movement is not very easy especially at the market centers where boda-boda operators, pedestrian and customers all want to move freely in the narrow routes. This move by the county to expand this route is quite timely and very welcome by us,” she stated.

Peter Onyango who plies his bodaboda trade along the route added that as bodaboda operators in the area, they were happy that finally their movements had been made easier, adding that prior to the expansion movement was quite cumbersome.

"Previously it was not very easy for us since we were competing for space with our taxi counterparts and even big lorries but the renovations of these roads have really helped matters and we thank the county government for this noble exercise,” he said.

Two weeks ago, the county government through the Ministry of Roads embarked on a massive roads renovation exercise in the area much to the delight of the residents.
