Measures to curb wastage of public resources and corruption in Nakuru County are underway, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said.

Kinuthia stated that the county government is working on measures that will ensure equal distribution of resources in a move to curb corruption.

“We have put in place strategies to ensure public resources are not diverted for personal gains," Governor Mbugua said in a statement.

He singled out the new electronic way of collecting revenues by the county government as a major boost to ensuring all revenues are collected and that there is no wastage.

“Electronically, we can keep a proper record of revenues while also ensuring that we put every coin to use. This is a major boost since we are able to track all records hence no loopholes,” he said.

The county boss noted that funds allocation on projects has increased in this financial year and is expected to hit 38 per cent by 2016/17.

“Fifteen million shillings in this year’s budget has been put into an agricultural fund to support farmers in all sub-counties. The county government is installing milk coolers in all sub-counties as well as supporting crop development and adoption by farmers in a move to nurture agri-business within our farmers,” he said.

Mbugua lauded the move by President Uhuru Kenyatta to fight corruption saying it will seal loopholes while the monies will be put to proper use.
