Deputy Governor Gerald Githinji has called for unity among Kiambu residents.

Speaking at Ndumberi grounds on Saturday during this year’s Jamhuri day celebrations, Mr Githinji appealed to residents to shun leaders who instigate disunity and tribalism.

Githinji said that some leaders are keen to divide the people on political grounds adding that residents should avoid such leaders.

The deputy governor said unity and peace will be needed to advance development.

“I urge Kiambu people to embrace peace and promote unity among themselves even as the government strives to promote development,” said Githinji.

The Kiambu deputy governor asked residents to keep off activities that would easily cause conflict. He said the Kiambu government is keen to ensure unity and pace among the people.

The deputy governor said that Kiambu is a cosmopolitan county and that peace needs to be promoted.

At the same time Githinji asked locals to remember the less fortunate in the society this festive season.

The deputy governor said that the festive season provides a chance for people to show love and appreciation to others.
