Residents of Gatwekera village in Kibera have been urged to help unblock drainages to prevent floods even as the rains continue to pour.
Speaking Tuesday morning to this writer, Tom Munyao, a rental house caretaker has urged residents to help unblock the drainage system in the area to avoid more flooding.
“We should not wait for our leaders and the government to deploy the National Youth Service servicemen to clean and unblock drainage for us. This is a problem caused by us residents due to the reckless littering especially polythene papers, thereby blocking the drainage system. Let us unite and work together to unblock the drainage systems to avoid further flooding,” Munyao added.
The clean up is scheduled for this weekend.
