Young graduates in Kibera have been challenged to apply for voter’s cards to help them access benefits from the constituency.
Speaking at the DC area on Thursday, the parliamentary liaison officer Vincent Ayako urged the youths to register for the document because it is the sure way through which they can access benefits from the constituency.
"You might be having a birth certificate but it shows that you were born elsewhere. However, you are currently living in Kibera. You need much help and depend on Kibra constituency to help you. It will be very hard for us to ascertain that you are a Kibera resident because your birth certificate and identity card show different locations. The only way you will convince us to give you any help is by showing us your voters’ card," he said.
"We are not asking you to register for the voter's card because we want you to vote for the current Member of Parliament but we want to help you have a say in whatever you want. We are very mean in this constituency. Kibra money is for Kibera people so get your voter's card to help you access the money and other benefits. We really don’t care who you will vote for but we want you to get Kibera resources," he added.
