One person died on the spot Sunday morning after being hit by a vehicle at Kwa Murram area along Matuu-Mwingi road in Yatta sub-county.
Confirming the incident, Yatta police boss Edward Changach said the deceased was heading to Kanyonyoo area when he was hit.
The vehicle reportedly fled after the incident. Police said they are conducting investigations to arrest the driver.
Changach asked all road users to be very vigilant to avoid accidents caused by careless driving.
"Road users and mostly drivers should be very keen while using the road and be conscious of other road users in this festive season to avoid accidents," Changach said.
The body of the deceased was taken to Matuu Median hospital mortuary.
