Kiambu county residents should be served with title deeds to curb the increasing violence and land fraudster incidences, this is according to Juja sub-county assistant commissioner Abdi Mohammed.
He said that recently, the land tussles have increased in the area and that the government needs to focus on issuing title deeds on time in order to give the residents freedom to develop and utilize their pieces of land.
The assistant DCC added that most of the lands buying companies in Kiambu county have been corrupted and there is need to take a swift move in ensuring that the self-proclaimed land buyers are dealt with as they are harassing the poor residents who have no title deeds.
He also stated that the members of the public have been decrying over losing their valuables and land to fraudsters who have an ill-motive. He said the elderly have been the most affected by the land tussles as their lands have been sold without their approval or knowledge.
“In most cases, the residents find themselves owning a piece of land as a pair despite having bought it legally. We have to act on these land leasing and buying companies by issuing title deeds to the land owners instead of the companies,” he said.
Abdi called upon the county government of Kiambu to venture into the grassroots where the land scuffles have been on the rise and issue the residents with title deeds. He further added that the private developers have been causing distress among the land owners.
Earlier on, governor William Kabogo revealed that his leadership will only allow those that have certificates to develop their pieces of land as they wait for their title deeds to be processed. He told all the investors in Kiambu county to visit the Kiambu county department of planning and present their certificates and proposals for clearance.
