Bodaboda Operators in Kangundo Town, Machakos County, on Monday held demonstrations to protest over poor roads and lack of sheds.
Led by their chairman Dominic Masaku and Kangundo Market chairman Chris Kyalo, the protesters matched to the Kangundo Sub-County administrator Ann Masai's office to air their grievances.
The bodaboda operators complained of having to work under the scorching sun despite the sub-county administrator promising them shades.
Speaking during an interview with this writer, Masaku said bodaboda operators from other sub-counties had shades while they had none despite paying taxes to the county government.
Masaku said the roads in the sub-county are impassable and urged the county government to renovate them in a bid to enhance transport in the area.
"We have been requesting for shades for a long time but the county administration is yet to address the issue, and that is why we decided to hold the demonstrations,” said Masaku.
He said that after holding the meeting with the sub-county adminstrator, they agreed that the bodaboda operators will not pay fees for stickers until their demands are met.
They also called upon Kangundo MP Kyengo Maweu to address issues in his constituency for the benefit of his constituents.
