Residents of Kirigiti town in Kiambu constituency have complained over straying dogs in the town.
The residents say that dogs are freely roaming the town and that they pose danger to children.
Speaking on Monday, the locals appealed to the area public officers to get rid of the dogs.
“The county officials should get rid of the straying dogs roaming this town center because we fear for safety of children,” said Ambrose Waweru.
Waweru said that the dogs roaming in the town have increased in the recent past.
“We are even worried that some of these dogs could be having diseases which are transmittable to humans,” he added.
Sheila Mbugua, a vegetable vendor at Kirigiti trading centre said the dogs roam the town freely. She said that some people are unable to take care of their dogs and release them to roam the area.
“I think it is a serious matter which the county officials need to look into,” said Mbugua.
She said that some of the dogs look scary and can easily pounce on people. She stated the dogs are roaming in such of food from garbage dens.
The locals have appealed to the area administration officers to intervene over the matter for the sake of their safety.
