Kisii University politics ended on a low note after the results were announced on Friday evening.
The anxious students were crowded in Sagini hall where the provisional results were supposed to be announced at 4pm. This was however not the the case after the results were delayed with the excuse of receiving late results from feeder campuses like Keroka.
The results were announced 2 hours later in an unofficial way by the dean of students Bro. Francis Keronga due to the tension. This was done outside the said venue and only the presidential winner was announced leaving out other seats like the organising secretary and the secretary general which prompted the riots.
This was because the students claimed that the announced candidate was handpicked and not voted for.
The final results were put on the university's notice board on Saturday declaring Jeff Mitei as the new 2015/2016 Kisii University president.
Bro. Francis said that the results were free and fair and he also promised tight security for the students living within the university's hostels and sure enough, anti-riot police were spotted within the university.
