The Kenya National Union of Teachers Nakuru branch has insisted that the recent move by its employer, TSC, of hiring 30,000 is not enough.
The union’s vice chairperson Kaburi Kuria who spoke to this writer in Nakuru on Friday stated that the move is not a relief to teachers considering that there are over 80,000 teacher graduates who are still jobless.
On the other hand, Kuria has complained that the government is yet to fulfil the teachers needs fully despite them working hard on their part saying this failure by the government is hurting the teachers.
In addition, he has asked the government to follow the right protocol in attending to matters pertaining to teachers saying this will ensure that all the teachers get their rights.
Meanwhile, the vice chairperson asked teachers to stand firm in ensuring they get their rights, adding that this will ensure there is growth in the education sector.
He has expressed his sentiment as Knut chairman Mudzo Nzili and secretary general Wilson Sossion were re-elected unopposed on Friday.
Speaking after being re-elected, Nzili threatened that teachers would go for a strike on March 27, if the government does not pay teachers a 50-60% salary increase by then.
