Lari Sub-County Deputy Commissioner Mr Aron Koros has put on notice cattle thieves stealing residents’ animals and causing havoc in some parts of the sub-county.
Speaking after holding a meeting at the Uplands Chief camp in Lari on Tuesday, Koros said that cattle thieves will be hunted down and dealt with according to the law.
The deputy county commissioner said that he has received many complaints from residents concerning cattle theft, adding that police will mount 24 hour patrols in search of the thieves.
“Cattle thieves and any other criminal groups that think they can cause havoc by stealing property in this area should know that we are coming for them,” said Koros.
Mr Koros asked residents who have lost their cattle to report the cases to the police in order help with investigations.
The deputy county commissioner said that law enforcers will intensify surveillance across the area.
He also urged residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi security initiative, saying that it will help curb crime.
A section of residents especially in Gathwariga village within Lari have been complaining over loss of their cattle.
The residents claim that thieves raid homes and steal cows, sheep and goats which they later slaughter in bushes and sale the meat to unsuspecting members of the public.
Two weeks ago, police in Kamae village shot dead a suspected cattle thief after he and others were found slaughtering a stolen cow at Kamae forest in Lari.
