The office of the auditor general has been challenged to expedite to the investigations on the mystery surrounding the Eurobond saga and help unearth the truth.
The Eurobond debate was ignited by CORD leader, Raila Odinga, who alleged that the government could not account for sh140 billion of the sh250 billion that was raised by it from international lenders.
On Tuesday, a section of Kisii leaders led by Deputy Governor Joash Maangi joined the debate a day after Budalang’i MP, Ababu Namwamba, urged the auditor general to bring the debate to a halt by giving facts on the mystery surrounding the expenditure.
''We have heard enough of Eurobond and what we want is the AG to do his work and give facts about the debate in time. The allegations are serious and could have negative impacts on our economy. The government must spend every single penny wisely and Kenyans must see tangible projects,'' he said.
Majority Whip, Henry Morara, cautioned the government against sabotaging independent investigations by the office of the auditor general and said as CORD, they will not hesitate to speak the truth.
''The auditor general owes Kenyans an explanation. He must expedite investigations and unearth the mystery. But as opposition, we want to warn the government against interfering with investigations done with an independent office,'' he said.
They also urged the AG to do his investigations independently and report any attempts to sabotage his work to parliament.
