Speaking in his office on Monday, Mr Wanjau said that there are many uncollected identification cards lying at the registry offices making it hard for owners to register as voters.

"It's very sad that despite youths applying for identification cards they don't go to collect them. At the Eldoret registry office alone,  8,000 identification cards are yet to be collected," he said.

He urged youths who have not collected their cards to do so immediately for them to participate in the on going voter registration.

"I urge chiefs and their assistants to ensure that they educate youths in their areas of jurisdiction on the importance of collecting identity cards," he said.
