Both serving and aspiring youthful leaders have been encouraged to walk their talk and desist from lying to the electorate during political campaigns for personal gains.
According to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, the few years he has spent in politics had taught him a lot as far as dealing with the electorate is concerned.
Speaking in Gilgil sub-county after concluding his projects developments tour on Wednesday, Mbugua said it was sad that some regions in the county lagged behind in development while the leaders in question hit the headlines for being involved in fishy deals.
"Testing deep waters with both feet is dangerous because politics is a game that demands a very tactical approach. Today you are loved, tomorrow nobody wants to hear anything about you," he said.
Mbugua called on leaders to prioritise delivering on all their campaign pledges for the sake of the people.
"The reason why you were elected is because the people believe in your manifesto and voted you in, stick to every statement in the manifesto and you will never regret," he advised.
The Governor is the pioneer of devolution after the country adopted a new constitution that led to the evolution of county governments.
