Mavoko sub-county land lords have been urged to sensitize their tenants on the need to maintain good sanitation.
Onesmus Ituo who is the region's sub-county administrator said a majority of the residents had failed to keep minimal sanitation standards as set by the Machakos government.
"Landlords from Mavoko Sub County should all talk to their tenants in proper sanitation management," said Ituo.
Ituo expressed his fears that if the influx of both solid and liquid wastes kept being in the region as it was the case, there could be diseases outbreak.
He said it was dangerous for the residents to keep living with the garbage under filthy conditions during the ongoing heavy rains.
Ituo who addressed the press at his office in Athi River town on Tuesday said efforts of the county government to sensitize the tenants on the need to keep sanitation clean had hit a snag.
He said the landlords were therefore better positioned in convincing their residents who they command arguing the situation was just a time bomb ready to explore any moment.
Ituo said the residents were exposed to Cholera, he expressed his fears that if the disease broke in the area it would cause unimaginable havoc.
