Following declared interest by several top notch politicians from Nakuru to vie for the county’s governorship, around of applause must be accorded to incumbent Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and his political advisory team.
The county boss has put political wits on the table and this is the time to embark on a journey to capture confidence for the people of Nakuru.
He has also proven that politics is a full-time job for those blessed with tactful thinking, realist and not wishful thinkers.
Mbugua is a leader who is capitalising on his government’s shortcomings to get votes.
His team early this week came up with a strategy to serve the public on a one-on-one basis which resonates with rooting confidence in the people who in one way or another had started developing qualms over how effective his government is in service delivery.
He has hitherto managed to etch a feeling of ownership and a sense of belonging for the people of Kuresoi South where he has pitched camp with his entire administration team and response to his call, judging by the turn out, it is quite promising.
This is a good move for him as it seeks to address development concerns that could cost him the seat in the next general election and it gives him an upper hand to go back to the people and convince them that in probity, he is the real man for the job and no one else can.
For the other aspirants, they have a huge task ahead of winning public confidence given that they have not started selling their agenda yet and the incumbent has embarked on a robust mission to bag as many votes as he can one year before citizens go to the ballot and decide who takes the driver’s seat.
