Mothers have been urged to ensure that their children get polio vaccination to protect them from polio disease.
Speaking during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Thursday at Eldoret Catholic Cathedral, the chairman of persons with disabilities in Uasin Gishu County Titus Yego urged parents to take their children to health centres to get anti-polio vaccine.
"I urge mothers to ensure that during polio vaccination exercises they take their children to be vaccinated against polio, I am disabled because my parents did not take me for vaccination," he said.
He urged the national and county governments to senstise the public on the importance of polio vaccination.
"Through sensitisation, the number of children affected by polio will decline because parents will see the merits of the vaccination," he said.
He challenged the government to set aside bursary funds for students with disabilities to ensure they complete their studies.
