Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen was among the first Kenyan politicians to congratulate Yoweri Museveni upon his re-election as President of Uganda.
Murkomen on his official Twitter account said: "I wish my family members, friends and citizens of Uganda the very best as they continue building their nation."
Museveni, one of Africa's longest serving leaders was re-elected in a poll held on February 18 and will serve his fifth term as President in the East African country.
The National Resistance Movement candidate garnered 5,617,503 representing 60.7 per cent of the cast votes against his main challenger Dr Kiiza Besigye of the Forum for Democratic Change who got 3,270,290 representing 35.37 per cent of the total valid votes.
Museveni was declared winner of the poll that was marred by police harassment with condemnation from the international community as Dr Besigye was under house arrest at his Kasangati home, North of the capital, Kampala.
The opposition earlier in the day released a statement rejecting the poll results.
There were eight candidates vying for the Presidency in the elections conducted by Uganda's Electoral Commission chaired by Dr Badru Kigundu.
