Entrepreneurs in Nakuru County are set to benefit from the use of information technology in their transactions if a proposal submitted to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua is adopted.

The proposal from a Nairobi-based technology firm - Nairobi Nailab Incubation Lab - was presented to Mbugua on Friday and seeks to provide entrepreneurs with an equal opportunity for growth and development in the IT sector which will boost their businesses.

Speaking to the firm's representatives Anne Lawi and Josephine Mwangi in his office, the county boss welcomed their idea of setting up shop in the county saying it will be a milestone in addressing issues facing entrepreneurs.

"We welcome all developmental ideas in Nakuru since we are determined to transform the lives of our people to better levels," he said.

Lawi said the incubator has been in operation since 2011 and already, more than 30 startups go through a 12-month programme.

“This incubator lab has been recognised by the government with a contract worth $1.6 million that will help map out the possibility of setting up incubation centres throughout the country," she said.
