Police in Kaptembwo are looking for a five-member gang that is notorious of terrorising area residents and have called on anybody with important leads that can facilitate their arrest to volunteer the information.
This comes after a watchman was left with serious panga injuries after being attacked at his workstation on Monday night.
It is alleged that the midnight incident also saw the gang make away with 10 gas cylinders and an unspecified amount of money. Confirming the incident, Kaptembwo OCS Patrick Makau noted that they had launched investigations into the incident further expressing his commitment to fighting crime in the area.
"We could have won the fight against crime in this area if the residents could have fully embraced community policing because the perpetrators are young boys who are well known," he said.
The residents who are now living now living in fear want police to intensify night patrols so as to assure them of their safety saying that they don't know when the gang will strike next.
The injured in watchman is admitted at the Bahati District hospital but the doctors have confirmed that he is out of danger.
