Butchery owners in Nyamira town have been warned of selling un-inspected meat to consumers thus risking their health and lives.
Speaking this Tuesday morning during a kick off for meat and sanitation situation in butcheries in Nyamira town and its environment, the senior health officer in Nyamira county Austine Omburo said that they have already received reports that there are many butcheries in the town that are allegedly selling un-inspected meat by health officials.
Omburo added that it was wrong and that it compromised the health status of the residents and could cause death.
"We are looking forward to arresting all those who have been reported so that they can face the law," he said.
The officer said they care about the health of the residents will therefore ensure that in the festive season, no business man risks the life of the residents. This comes barely a week after 5 butcheries in the town were closed down for not meeting the health standards.
