Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama will increase his chances to be re-elected in 2017 if he dismisses the current county executive committee members and reconstitutes it afresh, a MCA has said.

Ken Atuti, who represents Gesima ward, on Sunday said most CeCs were unable to implement projects approved by the county assembly leading to discontent among members of the public.

He urged Governor Nyagarama to crack the whip on the current CeCs and introduce new face that could help him implement his election manifesto.

“We are the people on the ground and the governor has to listen to us. His county executives are basically sleeping on their job and this is the time to crack a whip on them and introduce new faces that can implement projects.

The assembly has passed a number of projects that remains undone,” Atuti said.

According to him, many of the executives were unable to assess the projects launched by the regime, making giving contractors and lee way to executive shoddy work leading to massive loss of public resources.

“And even if some have been trying to implement a number of projects, I can confirm that they rarely assess the situation and see probably what’s happening. This makes the county loss a lot of resources to lazy contractors,” he said.

Atuti further alleged that corruption was rampant in the departments within the county, leading to persistent summoning of the governor to the Senate to clarify some issues.

“The county executives have given a room for corruption within their dockets making the governor to be summoned frequently to the Senate. I think this is the right time to get rid of the executives for the sake of prosperity,” he added.
