South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to intensify the fight against corruption that has derailed development in the country.

Nyamweya said Kenyatta should recognise the negative impact corruption has had on the country's economic development and be in the led in fighting the vice.

Addressing journalists on Sunday in Kisii Town Nyamwenya said corruption is a major setback to development in Kenya and challenged President Kenyatta to fight corruption "up to 100 percent".

“A time has come when Uhuru Kenyatta who is our president, should come out and fight corruption and show his concern on corruption so that we can stop hearing of corruption allegations of some individuals in our country,” said Nyamweya.

The lawmaker said if Kenyatta needs to get back his support move from kenyans he has to end corruption significantly.

He asked the president to fulfill the promises he gave out to Kisii region residents during the 2013 campaigns,  mostly about rehabilitating Kisii roads.

“President Kenyatta came to Kisii region and promised us much of development yet we have not seen any development done in Kisii according to his pledges,” added Nyamweya.
