Party Election Board commissioner Peter Odoyo who was overseeing the exercise said they were forced to reschedule the polls to December 14 and 15, saying some level of ‘insecurity and technical issues’ held them back.

Odoyo however gave a go ahead for other areas to continue with the polls which registered dismal voter turn-outs at the start.

In the Bomachoge Chache polls, Kisii County deputy governor Joash Maangi is fighting to reclaim the constituency chairmanship which has also attracted area MP Simon Ogari.

Odoyo told this writer that the duo had had an altercation over the criteria used in selecting clerks manning the poll.

Ogari, however, rubbished the claim, citing ‘poor preparation' for the primaries on the side of the party.

He said the party had not sent officers to man the elections and many of the voters who had turned up failed to cast their votes.

“There were no officers to conduct the exercise that is why the it had to be postponed,” said Ogari.

He exuded confidence in emerging victorious in the polls.
