Kisumu West MP John Olago Aluoch has urged his counterparts in the National Assembly to share their experiences with MCAs for them to improve in their roles.

Olago said MPs should play advisory role to MCAs since devolution is a new thing and it takes time to adapt to the new changes.

“MPs should visit assemblies and hold numerous forums with MCAs before the first term of devolution ends in 2017,” said Olago during his first ever address to the county assembly during the plenary sessions in Kisumu.

He stated that through frequent consultations, MCAs will be well equipped to undertake their legislative, representative and oversight roles effectively.

Many at times we have seen assemblies grappling with budget making process and making of laws and this is where Olago said MPs can help in drafting of good and workable bills that can help change the lives of Kisumu residents.

He congratulated them for the peace and tranquillity they have exhibited in the recent past as opposed to the better part of last year when the house was rocked with scandals all over.
