Disabled persons in Nakuru county have been challenged to vie for elective positions in the 2017 general election.

Nominated MCA Emma Mbugua called on disabled persons who want to vie for various seats not to be cowed by anyone. She said its time for PLWDs to show the world that they can also be leaders despite the challenges they are facing.

Mbugua said that PLWDs have leadership qualities and can be good leaders if given an opportunity.

"I want to call on all persons living with disabilities to come out and fight for positions in next years polls," she said.

"They should not be intimidated or looked down upon by anyone and they should not just sit and wait to be nominated but they should fight to be elected," she added.

She called on political parties to offer a level playing ground to PLWDs during the party nominations.

"All parties need to ensure that PLWDs receive all the support they need and that they are not treated unfairly during the nominations," she said.
