Machakos police have gunned down three suspected thieves in Miwani area, Machakos county.

They were reportedly apprehended as they tried to break into one of the wholesale shops in the area.

Police officers were in patrol very early in the morning of March 3 when they realised something was wrong and the shop owner was not inside.

According to Machakos OCPD Adiel Nyange who confirmed the incident he said that police officers did a great job knowing that people have been living in fear in Miwani and other areas such as Katelembo and Canaan.

"I am happy for what police officers have done and I must laud them. We promised to work hard to ensuring all thieves are gunned down," said Nyage.

This comes barely two weeks after area residents accompanied by Katelembo and Canaan residents demonstrated by blocking Machakos-Nairobi road over the increased insecurity.

Nyage said that police officers will continue patrolling the area to ensure all gangs are dealt with.

The three were taken to Machakos level five hospital mortuary as police launch investigations into the matter.
