Gituamba MCA Sammy Ng’ang’a has urged the registrar of persons in Kamwangi to move to schools and shopping centres to issue identity cards to the youths who have attained the age of 18 years.
Addressing Gituamba residents in Gituamba town on Wednesday, the MCA noted that there were many youths in the area that have attained the age of 18 years but could not take voters card since they did not have IDs which was mandatory.
He said that voter registration exercise had kicked off and the IEBC officers in the area were going round various centres issuing Voters cards but reports indicated that very few people were turning up to register as voters.
"I call on wananchi to work together with chiefs in their locations to eliminate illicit brew which has retarded development among our youths," he said.
He urged the area chief to be on look out on the strangers settling in their area least they be terrorists.
The MCA revealed that 13 youths from the ward had been selected to undergo one-month training on community policing to enhance security in the constituency and train others.
"We will not compromise with the security of our people. We have initiated a program where 13 young men from every sub-location within Gituamba ward have been selected and have already commenced security training in Kamwangi. They after completion will be deployed to offer amicable security solutions for our people," he added.
