Kisumu County residents have been urged to help the government in fighting corruption as it is a collective responsibility.
Speaking in Kisumu on Wednesday, County Commissioner John Elungata said a majority of the people have a mindset set that fighting graft is for the established agencies, a notion that should change.
“Since in the long run we are all affected by this vice, we should be play our part in taming it. Corruption does not only affect the government but all of,” said Elanguta.
He said people should refrain from engaging in corrupt activities because with no time, they will be arrested as the government has set up many agencies to fight the menace.
“At the moment it is not only Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission fighting the vice but also the police. As you know, the police are everywhere therefore any corrupt dealings are likely to be noticed,” he said.
He also called on vehicle owners who complain about corrupt traffic police officers to ensure that their vehicles are in good shape so that the police do not find a reason to solicit money from them.
Elangati was speaking in Kisumu during the National Government Service Delivery Committee meeting held at the county headquarters.
