Residents of Rironi Ward in Limuru sub-county have urged the Kiambu government to supply them with clean tap water.

The residents claim they have no access to supply of clean water and that they are forced to buy the precious commodity from vendors.

They said lack of access to tap water has exposed them to diseases related with consumption of dirty water.

Speaking to this writer on Saturday, the residents said most of their activities are hampered due to lack of water.

Jimmie Kariuki, who owns a hotel in Rironi town, said she is forced to buy water from vendors.

Kariuki said water from vendors cannot be trusted that much, adding that the government has to supply them with clean tap water.

“The Kiambu government has promised several times that it will supply us with tap water but the promise is yet to be fulfilled,” she said.

The locals want area MP John Kiragu to help them access tap water.

The residents also want their leaders to help them get water tanks to harness rain water.

“Our situation can change if the government provides as with water tanks to harness the rain water that is being wasted,” said Beatrice Wamboi another resident.

On the same note, the residents want the county government to improve on the drainage system.

They say with the ongoing heavy rains, drainage and sewage systems have clogged, forcing water to over-flow into residential homes.
