The Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) will on Tuesday morning meet with Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to express their concerns over fee charges.
“The PS has invited us for a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) to share our concerns over the school fees stalemate,” said KESSHA chairman Mr John Awitti on Monday.
He expressed some of the concerns and the dilemma the schools are in, one of them being the ongoing projects that started before the guidelines were set and now need funding in order to be completed within the period set.
“It will be difficult to complete these projects without funding, and this is one of the omissions by the ministry when they were drafting the guidelines. We are waiting to see how the Education CS will help us in this,” said Awitti.
The school heads body has also asked its members to adhere to the fee guidelines stipulated by the ministry.
The directive came in the wake of concerns raised on how public secondary schools were charging exorbitant School fees in violation of the government guidelines that were put last year.
Awitti asked all public secondary schools to adhere to the guidelines even as various schools raised pertinent issues making it difficult to adhere to the directive.
