A somber mood engulfed Lanet estate in Nakuru Wednesday when a patient killed a doctor who was attending to him.
The suspect, who is of unsound mind, went to the young female doctor who has been administering psychiatric treatment to him but ended up killing her.
According to reports of the Tuesday incident, the trip by the patient to his doctor turned tragic after he rushed for a kitchen knife and stabbed the doctor several times.
Passersby were attracted to the clinic by cries.
They rushed the doctor to Nakuru Medical hospital where she was pronounced dead due to over bleeding.
“She had lost a lot of blood because we took her to the hospital as blood oozed out,” James Mburu said.
The suspect locked himself in a house making an angry mob to set it ablaze. He was, however, rescued by police and taken to Central police station.
According to residents, the deceased has been attending to the mentally ill patient for a while.
