Kibera shoe traders have a reason to smile as they are now making big profits from their sales.

This is witnessed especially during weekends as traders make profits from the sales confirms Dan Osamo, a trader at DCmarket.

Speaking on Sunday at the market, Osamo said that during weekends, there is an increase in the sales, unlike weekend days. This is because many people who are residents and others pay visits to Kibera slums and visits the market to buy shoes from them.

“I sell ladies shoes. During weekends, I enjoy the business since I make huge profits from the sales as I receive more customers unlike weekdays when the turn up of customers is low,” said Osamo.

He said that during weekdays, many people are at work and customers coming to the market are very rare. A person who comes to the market on weekdays normally comes to buy vegetables and other household items. But usually, over weekends people walk around the market to buy items such as shoes and this leads to huge sales more so Sundays.

“I like visiting the market on Sundays after church. I choose to visit the market over the weekend because during weekdays I go to work from 8 a.m to 5 p.m and this makes it hard for me to visit the market,” said Mildred Omondi, a customer.

She said that during weekends, most traders sell their stock at a throwaway price to clear the whole week stock from stores and this makes it cheaper for her to buy shoes at an affordable price.
