A former Tonga primary school student who scored 354 marks in 2015 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) is yet to report to her dream school, Sironga Girls, slightly over a month since her colleagues reported.

Diana Nyanchama was promised a scholarship by Nyamira county government early January, a promised that has never been fulfilled to date.

Nyanchama revealed how she has tried to get help from the county government but all was in vain.

“The officials from the office of the governor promised to give me a scholarship but unfortunately, I have tried to reach them in vain. They keep on giving me empty promises to date," lamented Nyanchama.

"I have made numerous trips to the county government offices but they have all been fruitless,” she added.

The girl who comes from an impoverished background now pleads with county governor to chip in and help her achieve her childhood dream of becoming a doctor.

"Our family lives in abject poverty and this means my dream of joining secondary school are diminishing every day," pleaded Nyanchama.

"I plead with our Governor to chip in and help me join the school. It’s an opportunity that will be of great help to me,” she said while weeping.

However, Progressive Youth Africa’s project Manager Tony Nyabera has since promised to take up the case and help the girl achieve her dreams.

“It’s sad that a county government can pledge to help the poor girl and go ahead to disappoint," stated Nyabera.

As Progressive Youth Africa, our main project is to support such cases hence I will pick up the matter,” reaffirmed Nyabera.

Efforts to reach the County Secretary Erick Onchana were fruitless since he is said to have left for a meeting in Nairobi.
