Land has always been known as an important thing that is very sensitive.

Land issues have in the past led to fighting between different communities. The situation is not different in Kasovo Naivasha as tension increases between the Maasai and Kalenjins who keep clashing over the control of ADC farm.

The clashes over the area that borders Maella Centre left one person dead and scores injured while houses were burnt over the weekend.

Leaders from the two opposing communities fell out over leasing out the land to farmers during this planting season. Each community now claims to own the land.

The clashes which started on Saturday and went on until Sunday morning have caused tension to the residents even after police were deployed to the area to calm the situation.

Reports indicate that three people were seriously injured but sustained arrow wounds. However, the situation is tense but under control as described by Naivasha sub-county assistant commissioner, John Opondo.

The said land is believed to be owned by the government but over the years, the communities have been claiming ownership of the land. This has been leading to constant clashes.
