Traders and cyber operators in Nyamira county selling pornographic materials to underage and students have been put on notice by Kenya Film Classification Board.
Addressing stakeholders in a Nyamira hotel Kenya Film Classification Board member Erastus Abuta expressed alarm over the proliferation of pornographic and sexually explicit materials and X-rated films in the country.
Abuta said that the board was worried that the trend if not confronted would lead to ‘moral decay and result to criminality.’
He added that it was disheartening to note that more children and youth indulged in the habit of viewing sexually explicit materials from their mobile phones and computers.
"We are appealing to the public and the media to be on the lookout and help us and the police get information on those distributing, exhibiting and producing films, movies and videos unsuitable for general public consumption," he said.
He said the classification board would also carry out campaigns to educate video operators countrywide on the risks of selling pirated movies and screening blue movies.
"We want to educate them so that they do not continue engaging in this illegal business which corrupts the morals," said Abuta
